Today I went to see a movie named "Hugo" for a Scholastic thing, and boy, is it awesome.
It's based on the book "The Invention of Hugo Cabrett", which everyone who went to see the movie (including me) also got. Along with a bunch of candy.
This movie takes in place in 1930's France. And has characters with British accents. Anyway, Hugo is a 12-year-old orphan boy who has found work in the gearworks of clocks in a French train station. His father was also a clockmaker, but he died. The project Hugo and his father were working on was a robotic marionette that could write and draw.
A girl named Isabelle quickly becomes friends with him, but she is the godchild of a mean old shop owner who took Hugo's notebook filled with sketches of gearworks. Isabelle has a key on a necklace that makes the robot work. One day, when Hugo takes Isabelle into the gearworks of the clocks and uses the key, the robots draws a picture of a very old movie that Hugo and his dad once saw. The rest of the movie is them trying to figure out what it meant, with amazing scenery, acting, et cetera.
It was a fantastic movie with heart. No wonder it was produced by Johnny Depp. The message in this movie was astounding and inspiring. I suggest EVERYONE watch this movie. It's fantastic, and I'm not just saying that for specific things. I'm saying that for every aspect of the movie. It was AMAZING.
